Enid Transit and the city of Enid engineering department recently received awards for outstanding work from two separate Oklahoma associations.
Enid’s engineering department was awarded the Silver Award for quality cement workmanship in municipal streets by American Concrete Pav-ing Association. The award was for the Ark-ansas-Oklahoma region.
The award came for the construction of Wheat Capital Road, which is south of Vance Air Force Base. The 18-month project cost more than $ 2 million. It was finished and dedicated in July 2009.
Engineering Director Robert Hitt said several department employees will attend the ACPA conference on March 23, including Jason Brinley, engineering administrator, who will accept the award. The project was partially funded through the state of Oklahoma engineering acquisition fund.
“We are pleased to receive the award. It was designed and built for trucks with loads in use by the National Guard and Reserve Center being built at Vance Air Force Base,” Hitt said.
Enid Transit recently received the 2009 Best Marketing Program Award for its participation in marketing.
Kim Watkins, transit director, accepted the award Feb. 17 from Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Rick Cain, of Oklahoma City METRO Transit, who also is president of Oklahoma Transit Authority, during the 12th annual OTA Awards for Excellence banquet.
Enid Transit was awarded for adoption of a new logo and bus design, which was launched through a campaign using four-color direct mail and transit bus messages along with radio and newspaper to promote the service. Enid Transit partnered with Eagle Marketing to spearhead the campaign. The promotion included a billboard along U.S. 412.
Watkins emphasized this is the first statewide award received by Enid Transit.
