Enid Woodring Regional Airport will celebrate the groundbreaking for Aircraft Structures International business expansion and the 66th Street industrial access road upgrade 10 a.m. May 17.
“We are breaking ground on two significant programs,” said Brent Kisling, executive director of Enid Regional Development Alliance. The first is the Aircraft Structures International. They are an aircraft repair business going through a significant expansion and are adding new hangers.
The ASI project should start within the next few weeks.
“The other significant project is the upgrade of the industrial road leading to these new hangers,” Kisling said. “It is partially funded through the city of Enid and ASI co-owner Mickey Stowers. This will allow truck access to our Cimarron Industrial Park for the first time.”
The 66th Street project already is under way.
The celebration will be held at the ASI hanger located at the south end of the airport.
“I think it will fascinate a lot of people to see Mr. Stower’s business and what he does,” Kisling said. “I think 98 percent of Enid doesn’t know the size or scope of what he does out there at the airport every day.”
Featured guests and speakers at the groundbreaking include Rep. Mike Jackson, a member of the state transportation committee; Enid Mayor John Criner; and Jackie Cooper, commissioner with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
