Enid Public Schools Superintendent Shawn Hime has been named District 3 Superintendent of the Year by Oklahoma Association of School Administrators.
Hime is one of 20 superintendents in Oklahoma honored.
“These administrators are chosen because of their professionalism, high expectations of students and staff, leadership skills, contributions to their school district and profession and an active and respected role in the community,” said Steven Crawford, executive director of OASA/Cooperative Council Oklahoma School Administration. “We congratulate Superintendent Hime for being selected by his colleagues for his service and accomplishments in the profession.”
Hime will be honored at the OASA awards banquet June 9 during the annual summer conference hosted by CCOSA. The conference will be June 9-11 at Meridian Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
Hime has 16 years experience in education and has been superintendent of Enid Public Schools since 2008.
“It’s a great honor to be selected by your peers,” Hime said.
During his time in Enid, Hime has overseen the implementation of several new programs and projects, including a change to a middle school model and passing of a $99.45 million bond issue.
Hime also worked with community members to secure $3.4 million in private donations to the district, the largest amount of private funding of its kind in Oklahoma history.
Before becoming EPS superintendent, Hime was assistant state superintendent of the Oklahoma Department of Education for four and a half years. He also has held positions such as assistant superintendent, athletic director, assistant principal and director of student assessment for Oklahoma Department of Education. He also has taught math and coached football.
Hime and the other finalists are eligible for the 2010 Oklahoma Superintendent of the Year competition. The winner will be announced in June.
