Enid’s Mike Klemme helped Oklahoma celebrate its centennial in 2007 with his book “Celebrating Oklahoma!,” and now he is publishing another creation to celebrate the town of Enid.
“It will be out in September,” said Suzanne Klemme, Mike Klemme’s wife. “He’s still working taking pictures. He’s got about three weeks left taking pictures.”
Mike Klemme will be photographing traditional Enid events such as the Tri-State Music Festival and Enid High School’s May Fete before he makes his final photo selections for the 10-inch by 11-inch coffee table book.
The book is planned for release about the time of the Cherokee Strip Days celebration.
“Celebrating Enid!” will showcase over 250 color photographs of Enid’s beautiful sights.
“People don’t even realize all the great things that are here,” Suzanne Klemme said. “He’s been shooting (this project) for about a year.”
The book will include sections on business and industry, arts and culture, community and education, recreation and tourism and a chapter on northwest Oklahoma.
Those who order a copy of the book will receive the honor of having their name printed in the book in a list of friends.
The book can be ordered at www.celebratingenid.com.
