Customer service training program comes to Enid

Enid Regional Development Alliance has partnered with other organizations in the community to bring a new customer service training program to Enid.

The program, called Producing Resourceful, Innovative and Devoted Employees, or PRIDE, is in conjunction with Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Enid and Oklahoma State University Extension.

Brent Kisling, executive director of Enid Regional Development Alliance, said the program is designed to train employees who interact with the public to provide the answer to the question: “What is there to do in this town?”

“I think it will help us as a community to understand what types of assets we have,” Kisling said.

The first round of training, scheduled sometime after May 14, will be provided to employees at the stores in Oakwood Mall, and the second round of training will be given to downtown merchants.

After that, Kisling expects to train groups in particular industries in Enid.

The cost for the training will be $10 per person. If the business the employee works at is a member of the development alliance, the chamber or Main Street Enid, the cost is $5.

The PRIDE program is geared to employees who work certain jobs, such as front desk at hotels and motels, convenience store clerks, and other front-line employees in the banking, health care or educational facilities.

If the person works the kind of job where people in town or out of town regularly ask them what’s going on in Enid, Kisling said this is the kind of training they should take.

“(Industries) will like this as well as a way to have uniform customer service training around the community,” Kisling said. “I think they’ll be able to utilize it quite regularly.”

Right now, the development alliance has 15 to 20 spots open for individuals to volunteer to help train Enid employees in the PRIDE program.

The training is free, but interested people must call the development alliance at 233-4232 as soon as possible to reserve a spot.

The training is scheduled for May 14.

Kisling also wants to know who is interested in participating in the PRIDE program.

“If a business in town is interested in the training for their employees, we’ll be taking those calls and trying to get things scheduled over the next several months,” Kisling said.
