Businesses and individuals interested in converting their vehicles to run on compressed natural gas or propane can get their questions answered Thursday during an open house and grand opening for Fuel Conversion Solutions LLC.
The Missouri-based business recently expanded its operation to Enid through a partnership with Autry Technology Center and James W. Strate Center for Business Development, and now is housed in Autry’s business incubator space at Enid Woodring Regional Airport.
Larry Wagoner, Fuel Conversion Solutions vice president, said the company has completed its first conversion to CNG in the Enid facility.
Wagoner said the company currently converts gasoline vehicles to run on propane or CNG, but he expects to offer conversions from diesel within the next six months.
The company offers either dedicated conversions, which completely replace the gasoline fuel system, or bi-fuel systems, which allow the driver to switch back and forth between gasoline and CNG.
Wagoner said the public will have the opportunity Thursday to have their questions about CNG and propane conversions answered by Fuel Conversion Solutions technicians, and also to view several vehicles that have undergone conversion to CNG and propane systems.
“The open house is going to be geared toward sharing a little bit about the industry, our company, and to provide some education and answer questions about the conversion process and everything involved,” Wagoner said.
Other speakers at Thursday’s open house are Autry Technology Center Superintendent and CEO James Strate, Enid Regional Development Alliance Executive Director Brent Kisling and Oklahoma Natural Gas Regional Manager Martie Oyler.
Brian Gaddy, director of James W. Strate Center for Business Development, encouraged the public to come out Thursday and learn about the benefits of CNG conversion.
“I would encourage anyone who wants to know something about CNG vehicles to attend the open house, especially businesses that have fleets ... I think they’re the ones who would benefit the most,” Gaddy said.
