Enid Public Schools recently was recognized nationally by Business Review USA as a growing school district that offers students a first-class education.
Business Review USA chose Enid Public Schools as one of three districts to showcase in its July 2011 online edition. The article, which can be found at www.businessreviewusa.com, is titled “Enid Public Schools: Providing the Ultimate Education.”
District spokeswoman Amber Graham Fitzgerald pointed out this is the third national article to feature EPS in the last year.
In reacting to the publication of the article, Superintendent Shawn Hime said it is good to be able to share Enid’s success story.
“Enid has an amazing story to tell — in so many ways including education,” Hime said. “Our students achieve high marks in the classroom and beyond, our teachers offer the highest caliber of instruction and our community believes in the importance of our mission.”
According to Business Review USA officials, the district was chosen as one of the country’s top school districts due in part to “the innovation and efficiencies” it uses to provide education to 7,000 students.
One of the main points touted in the article was Enid’s passage of a $99 million bond issue and a subsequent donation of $3.5 million extra from local businesses.
Other success stories pointed out in the article include the district’s recent offering of intergenerational classes for two of its 4-year-old programs, the district’s 50 nationally certified educators, its increase in enrollment of more than 600 students in the last four years and diverse curriculum offerings.
“Our philosophy is to always look forward,” Hime is quoted in the article. “Our goal is to be one of the best school districts in the nation. Our efforts are measured by the achievements and accomplishments of our students. ... Our job is to prepare them for the successful future that they desire.”
Enid Public Schools has 1,000 employees with an annual budget of $55 million.
