ENID — Enid city commissioners are doing what they can to help Parrish Enterprises access a statewide fund to enlarge its facilities and purchase new equipment.
Commissioners approved a resolution declaring support for Parrish Enterprises during their meeting Tuesday. Parrish is applying with the Oklahoma Pooled Finance Program for assistance.
Brent Kisling, director of Enid Regional Development Alliance, told commissioners during their study session the company would add 3,500 square feet to its facility at 1414 E. Willow, purchase new equipment and hire additional employees. Parrish Enterprises currently employs about 280 employees.
“They have really rebounded from the recession,” Kisling said.
The 50-year-old Enid company is applying for $2.35 million from the state fund. The company will use $1 million for expansion and the city will use $1.35 million to fix drainage problems in the area where the company will expand. Chris Arnold, plant manager, said when there are heavy rains, water often backs up into the plant, resulting in costly production delays. The expansion project immediately will add 11 jobs.
The resolution of support was necessary for the state finance loan and does not involve spending by the city of Enid. The company also plans to apply for a U.S. Department of Agriculture energy efficiency grant.
By completing the expansion, Arnold predicted the company can increase production in Enid by 70 percent. Parrish Enterprises produces ductile pipe in Enid and ships it to 16 warehouses in the United States and two in Canada.
Parrish Enterprises manufactures industrial hose couplings, band clamps and ferrules for industrial rubber hoses. It is the world’s largest producer of cam and groove hose couplings used in the oil and gas industry, Kisling said.
