Enid Center Earns Site Ready Certification

May 11, 2011 -- The Enid Energy Center today earned Oklahoma Site Ready status from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.  Site Ready validates for prospective employers that a site is already cleared for construction. In partnership with OG&E and PSO, Commerce works to capitalize on economic development opportunities through community efforts employing the program.

"The Site Ready Program is one of the state’s best tools when it comes to attracting a business that is looking to relocate or expand in Oklahoma," said Dave Lopez, Oklahoma Secretary of Commerce and Tourism. "When a community like Enid has a certified site, it lets business locators and site consultants know that they are immediately ready for growth."

Receiving certified status guarantees an incoming business that the site is ready for construction. That minimizes risk for companies and speeds development. The state’s site certification program debuted in Oklahoma in 2006 and now has 34 sites in 23 communities.

"Our area and indeed our State are poised for continued economic expansion due to the blessings of industrious people, abundant natural resources, and a culture steeped in traditional values," said Buddy Nicholas, President Nicholas Investment Company. "We are pleased that the Enid Energy Center has met the high standards to be certified by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and we’re proud of the Enid community, optimistic about its future and glad we call it home."

By putting commercial and industrial properties through a rigorous qualification, inspection, and third-party verification process, the Oklahoma Site Ready Certification Program ensures that properties stamped Site Ready are: available for sale or lease immediately; ready to build, with all utilities and other infrastructure in place, pre-permitted, or planned; and clear of regulatory or environmental concerns.

In addition to capitalizing on economic development opportunities, Site Ready aims to prepare Oklahoma communities to accommodate new business prospect inquiries, learn about various industry project needs and strategically plan to address them.

The Oklahoma Site Ready Program targets industries such as aerospace, research, industrial and rural business.
