ENID — Contracts for renovation of three schools and construction of a fourth are scheduled to be awarded at this evening’s meeting of the Enid Public Schools Board of Education.
The board will meet in regular session at 6:30 tonight in the central office, 500 S. Independence.
Bids for renovation work at Taft Elementary School, Hayes Elementary School and Emerson Middle School, as well as construction of the new Prairie View Elementary School, are on the agenda.
Two companies submitted bids for Taft, four submitted bids for Hayes, four submitted bids for Emerson and five submitted bids for Prairie View.
The architect’s recommendations to the school board are to award the Taft renovation contract to Silvercliffe Construction Company, Edmond, for about $1.3 million; the Hayes contract to Bass Construction, Enid, for $903,274; the Emerson contract to Henson Construction, Enid, for about $2.7 million; and the Prairie View contract to Timberlake Construction, Oklahoma City, for about $9.7 million.
The preliminary budget for the Taft renovation is $2.1 million; for the Hayes renovation, $940,000; for the Emerson renovation, $3.8 million; for construction of Prairie View, $10.6 million.
The work is part of a $99.45 million bond issue approved by voters in February 2010.
Also on this evening’s agenda are change orders at Hoover, Glenwood and Coolidge elementary schools.
Board members will consider contracts for employee relations and administrative consultation, canine sweep and deterrence services, Enriching Children’s Communication Opportunities services, Project SEARCH, and Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitative Services for work-study and school-to-work transition program, and summer speech and hearing services.
Contracts for 31 district administrators are up for approval. Contracts for a special education teacher and computer equipment technician also will be considered.
Retirements of seven faculty members and resignations of two others are on the agenda along with resignations of eight support employees.
