ENID — Enid officially now has one more site-ready industrial park, thanks to Nicholas Commercial Real Estate.
On Wednesday at James W. Strate Center for Business Development, Nicholas Commercial Real Estate was given its Oklahoma site-ready certification for Enid Energy Center, a site located on the east side of Enid off 54th.
The certification brings Enid’s site-ready industrial park total to three.
Buddy Nicholas and his son, Nick, were given the certification by Department of Commerce and Tourism Secretary Dave Lopez.
Nicholas said it took two years just to get all the paperwork and everything squared away for the certification.
“It was really a team effort and a citywide effort,” Nicholas said.
Enid Regional Development Alliance Executive Director Brent Kisling said whenever he goes out of town to meet a prospective client, he always hands them a tip sheet that shows Enid’s site-ready industrial parks.
In addition to Cimarron Industrial Park and Garfield County Industrial Park, Enid now has Enid Energy Center to add to its industrial portfolio.
There already are several industries, such as OG&E Electric Services and Coca-Cola, located in and adjacent to Enid Energy Center. About 28 acres now will be available for new or expanding businesses to move into.
“This is a great day for Nicholas Real Estate, the Nicholas family but more importantly for the community of Enid,” Kisling said.
Lopez, who himself presented the Nicholas family with the certification, said good things happen when a team is involved.
“You’re blessed with a community that has ... such a bright future,” Lopez said. “Enid is a community that works together and gets things done.”
Oklahoma has 34 site-ready certified industrial sites in 23 communities.
“It’s not by accident that places like Enid are succeeding,” he said.
