New EPD fitness center outfitted

ENID — One of the final pieces of Enid Police Department’s renovation arrived Tuesday with the delivery of Cybex equipment for the fitness center.

More than 30 department employees were briefed by Rob Goff, owner of PR Fitness Equipment, who outfitted the department’s fitness center with 18 pieces of Cybex equipment.

“It makes the facility complete,” Chief Brian O’Rourke said. “The officers appear to be excited about it.”

The fitness center features a full set of free weights, two spin bikes, an elliptical machine, leg press, shoulder press, functional trainer, leg curl and extension machine and abdominal and lower back exercise machine.

“We’ll have a full complement of equipment where you can get a complete workout,” said Capt. Dean Grassino. “A lot of the officers are excited about starting a workout program.”

Grassino said everyone who uses the fitness center must first take an introductory course with Goff. More than 30 attended the class Tuesday, and another class is scheduled for Friday.

Goff explained the proper use of each piece of equipment, as well as how to adjust each machine. Giving exercise tips as he went, he explained the proper way to use and operate the equipment.

“We’re going to encourage physical fitness, starting with the administration,” O’Rourke said. “Dean has done a great job getting this project together.”
