A site plan for a new hotel in Enid was approved by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission Monday night, along with the development where it will be located.
Commissioners voted to approve the Westedge Development located west and south of Wheatland Animal Clinic.
A new hotel, proposed by Dr. Atul Patel, also was approved. The hotel will be in lot 3 of the three-lot development.
The site is a proposed three-story, 86-room Springhill Suites hotel, which is a Marriott property. There were no contingencies in either plan and both were approved.
Board member Bob Emery, who is the lender in the project, left the room and did not vote on the plan.
The property is zoned C-2 planned business center. The zoning surrounding is C-2 north and east, agriculture to the west and R-7 multi-family residential district to the south. City staff has reviewed the site development plan and determined it is in compliance with permitted uses in C-2 zoning, with one exception.
The city of Enid’s engineering department asked for the water meter box to be relocated away from the sidewalk. The Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals granted a variance to a section of the International Fire Code requiring buildings exceeding 30 feet in height to have at least two means of fire apparatus access for the structure.
All contingencies had been resolved Monday night, according to Robert Hitt, director of engineering. Monday’s meeting was a special MAPC meeting.
